Greenfield Community Energy and Technology (GCET) is a Municipal Light Plant owned by the City of Greenfield. A Municipal Light Plant, or MLP, is a special, non-profit public entity created under Massachusetts General Law 164 to provide telecommunications, electric or gas services to its local community. Our primary mission is to provide fast, efficient and low cost Internet, TV and VOIP phone services to all of Greenfield. With our current coverage, we offer an unequaled package of services to over 80% of all households in Greenfield and we continue to build out our network. We offer faster speeds and lower prices and we save money for our customers. As a group, our customers currently save nearly $1,000,000.00 per year over the average cost for Internet and TV previously offered in our City. That number continues to grow. We also provide Internet services for the municipality, saving Greenfield an additional $30,000.00 per year. Keeping that money in local people’s pockets helps citizens and helps to grow Greenfield’s economy.
We are a full-service organization and are directly responsible for the installation and maintenance of our municipal network. All network operations and internet services are provided by our dedicated work force and our top class Customer Service department operates from our offices on Main Street in the heart of downtown. We are guided by a talented local Board of Commissioners. We are your neighbors and we work every day to serve our community. From Greenfield, for Greenfield. That’s what we do.
